Discord Server Rules

Welcome to the official Bits N Bones Discord server. We are excited to have you as part of the community. We do ask that before you get started, please view our #rules channel to read and agree with our code of conduct. 

We are attempting to build an inclusive, warm and inviting community for older gamers to relax, make friends and share memories. For this to work, our members must agree to follow our code of conduct listed below. If we do not assist each other in following the rules, our community will suffer and we will all lose out. We are all here because we share a passion for gaming and this is the biggest team game on the market.

General Rules Understanding

We are working to foster a positive community and that’s an uphill battle in the world of the Internet. We need your assistance, so please refrain from excessive negativity in discussions and if you must, lean rather towards constructive criticism. There are plenty of gaming communities out there if you need to spread ill-will towards something.

You may not use our server for unsolicited self promotion (e.g. posting your Twitch/YouTube channels, Discord servers, etc.). If you want to promote related content please communicate with our administration on the website for more information. You may even be qualified to become a partner in the community.

Violations in any of these areas will be met with swift penalties: you may be warned or you may be banned. There are no three strikes rules as this server community is not a right but a privilege. You may argue your point to the @Moderator group. Please just don’t “be a dick” as we do not want to spend all our time penalizing gamers. That’s not fun. 

These community guidelines are developed to make sure everyone on Discord has a good time making great memories playing games. We are happy you are here, let’s build our town together.

This server adheres and complies with, at minimum, Discord's Community Guidelines; make sure you're familiar with them.

Rules Breakdown

Abusive Language

Abusive language and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. This includes comments directed at Bits N Bones mods, your fellow community members, or other groups or companies.

• Abusive language includes slurs or discriminating speech in all forms, including but not limited to religion, creed, national origin, gender, age, or lifestyle.

• Refrain from using any words on the mental health spectrum or the LGBTQIA+ community in a derogatory manner.

• Harassment, including witch-hunting, doxing, or the disclosure of personal information without the disclosed party’s consent, is strictly prohibited.

• Disruptive behavior also includes deliberately spreading conspiracy theories or false info about Bits N Bones or its community leaders.

Accusations of Misconduct

We do not allow public accusations that others have broken the rules, or are otherwise acting inappropriately. Constructive disagreement is fine, but accusing someone of trolling usually escalates the problem, and accusations of lying are most commonly inflammatory. If you feel someone is breaking the rules, please report them directly to a mod or administrator.

Advertising

We do not allow advertising on the Bits N Bones Server, including invitations to other Servers, outside businesses and services, other games, and any venture that results in monetary profit without administrative consent first. If you are interested, please contact our staff with your query. 

Conspiracy Theories and Misinformation

We do not tolerate the deliberate and malicious spreading of false information or conspiracy theories about anything. Bits N Bones feels very strongly that our society suffers drastically from enough misleading information and so will not allow this to be another vehicle of controllers.

Copyright Infringement: Names and Material

We do not allow or condone the posting of copyrighted material in full or illegal links to such material. Unless we have official permission from the owner of the material, we will not allow the post.

Profanity, Inappropriate & Harmful Material

We allow adult language on the Server although we hope most gamers have a larger vocabulary to articulate their emotions and express themselves in a better method. Please maintain a modicum of control in profanity posting as it may reach a point of harassment or abuse and we don’t want that. Things that we consider inappropriate are usually illegal, extremely volatile or violent, obscene, vulgar, or simply inappropriate for our community.

Inappropriate and/or Harmful content includes, but is not limited to the following:

• Extreme violence

• Illegal substances and activities

• Pirated copyright-protected material

• Pornography and other sexually explicit topics (please see pornhub for your needs)

• Real-world religion and politics (there is too much on Twitter, er X, already)

• Tasteless, vulgar, or obscene material (4chan is still out there)

• Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) + Cryptocurrency

• Forcing the DM on any the members

• Discussion, promotion, or sharing of NFTs and/or cryptocurrency is prohibited.

Demands and Threats

We encourage you to share feedback, suggestions, and requests with us, but we expect all of our community members to refrain from resorting to demands or threats. Threats of real-life violence, in particular, are something we take very seriously and do not tolerate.

Discussing Disciplinary Actions

We do not allow conversations on disciplinary actions in the Server, regardless of the Server violation. If you ever have questions or concerns about a disciplinary action you received on the Bits N Bones Community Discord, please contact the Moderators or Administrators.

Expert Level

Everything on this board should be taken as written by a level 1 character without proficiency. Unless someone can provide legitimate expert reference links or provide us with documentation personally demonstrating your own expertise as well as a legally binding reference taking full responsibility for your statements then ALL THINGS POSTED are taken with a grain of salt. Believe what you want but being posted here does not make it true.

Hacking and Exploits

We do not tolerate the discussion of hacking, cracking, phishing, exploits or cheats and/or the buying and selling of counterfeit software and/or Virtual Currency or virtual items. Go do evil somewhere else … it gives us old school geeks a bad name. If you know of or find an exploit please report them (support@bitsnbonesgaming.com).

Impersonation

Do not impersonate a Mod; Admin; any member of another group or company; or your fellow community members. This includes copying their profile picture to appear as them or posing as any official source or staff member.

Nicknames & Profile Pictures

Do not setup accounts with the following:

• Blank nicknames or profile pictures

• Sexually explicit nicknames or profile pictures

• Purposefully offensive or threatening nicknames or profile pictures

Personal Information

For the sake of your own identity protection and personal privacy, we ask that you please do not share any personal information in the Server. This also goes for sharing another community member’s personal information — doing so is not only considered malicious behavior, but it is a violation of our Terms of Service and something we take very seriously.

Respect Server Moderators and Staff

Listen to server staff. Final verdict and rule interpretation is up to staff. Do not harass administrative, staff or moderators to expedite your challenges. Our team is very small and we will lose time managing such responses that could better be spent dealing with the very issues you want resolved. Bug reports and feedback can be submitted on the #feedback channel.

Spam

Monty Python made it cool. The Internet did not … Don’t spam ... you aren’t Monty Python. This includes excessive messages, emojis, mentions, etc. Don’t use the tag @everyone / @here without permission. Only @mention for the moderators for support.

Spoilers

Please keep any media spoilers (movies, games, books, etc) marked with a Spoiler Tag and in their appropriate Channel. Failure to do so will result in your post being deleted.

Trolling & Baiting

We do not allow trolling, baiting, or any type of provocation on our Server. If you feel like you are being trolled or baited, please contact our Moderators.
